Note: The Washington press corps serenaded president-elect George Bush on his campaign plane with the first verse and refrain of this hymn in 1988. We added a few more stanzas.

Mine eyes have seen the glo-ry of a kind-er, gen-tler land
With a cop on eve-ry cor-ner and a gun in eve-ry hand.
Ti-ny tots in pub-lic schools pledge al-le-giance on com-mand
George Bush is in com-mand.

George prom-is-es to keep the pol-i-cies of Ron Rea-gan.
"Sur-vi-val of the fit-test," so-cial Dar-win-i-sm.
Cut tax-es for the wealth-y, let the crumbs trick-le down,
When George Bush rules the town.

No pris-on fur-lough pro-grams; You might let out Wil Hor-ton.
No sev-en days no-tice for pur-chas-ing a gun.
More Con-tra Aid, less Med-i-caid, more mon-ey for de-fense.
George says all this makes sense.

We need the M-X mis-sile to keep Rus-sia at bay.
Af-ter all, re-mem-ber "Sep-tem-ber sev-enth - Pearl Har-bor Day."
More bucks for S-D-I. We're not a-fraid to fight.
"A Thou-sand Points of Light."

No six-ty days no-tice, kick the wor-kers on the streets.
And no tar-iffs on the goods that are made over-seas.
Let's slash the ed-u-ca-tion bud-get. Cut down all the trees.
No oi-l im-port fees.

"You've nev-er had it bet-ter," re-minds the G-O-P.
For-get the na-tion's woes, "Don't wor-ry, be hap-py."
Just "Stay the course," 'cause it's the best for the ec-o-no-my.
And Dan Quayle is V-P!

It's nine-ty-four, re-sults are in, our par-ty's got the House.
Sen-ate, too. Bob Dole's at-tack-ing Bill and his spouse.
Dick Ar-mey's lead-er, Simp-son's whip, Newt's got the speak-er's chair.
All say Bill has no pray-er.

For-get wel-fare re-form, just take the kids a-way.
O-pen more fos-ter homes, that's Bill Ar-cher's way.
No health care for the poor, just don't treat them and they'll die.
And now our 'Bat-tle Cry.'

The question is, "Who to nominate in nine-ty-six?"
Is Dole too old? Weld to young? Whom do we pick?
There's also Gramm, Wil-son, Kemp and Pat-rick Bu-chan-an.
Oh, who will be our man?

We lost in nine-ty-two and six be-cause of Ross Pe-rot.
How to take the White House back has got to be our lar-ger goal.
Oh, who to lead the G-O-P? Oh, please, oh, please, not Dan.

There's Ross Pe-rot. He's pop-u-lar, but some think he's a nut.
For-get La-mar, and Spec-ter, too. They won't make the cut.
There's Ol-lie North, but how about the Tex-an who beat Ann?
